I have found myself reading anything and everything about this hobby. I have even found myself losing sleep do to think about my setup. I am addicted and have nothing to show for it, except a couple for empty tanks that are cycling. I have been losing sleep over how I want to plumb my sump when I get an aquarium stand, which wont be for another 3 months. I think about the corals I will have after I either build or buy my lighting. And I have lost sleep over that too, building my lighting, and how to do it cheap and good. I constantly think of the types of fish I am going to purchase and have. Now I am thinking about the types of food I will feed them and the best way to make it myself.

Anyone else have these problems? Are you guys or gals as addicted as I am?

I planned my first saltwater setup for 6 months before I actually had water in it. Then, it was another 6 weeks before I bought my first fish. I spent many, many nights just reading as much as I could. So I know exactly what you mean!

Research will always, ALWAYS pay off, as will taking your time.

As for the obsession, you're talking to someone who has had 14 SW tanks running at once...our obsession with venomous fishes is still very much a "lionfish on our backs"...LOL

An obsession of this kind is a good one. Planning is also a good thing. I didn't plan much and redoing a lot of it now.

You are not alone. it's almost a hindrance at times with all the information out there. I've read so much information that it's overloaded my brain! The weekend I installed my sump, I was awake at the crack of dawn and I was like a kid on christmas morning. I had to stop myself and slow myself down. haha

I'm constantly reading, constantly. My gf keeps going, so after this or that you will be done right? Soon she will learn to not ask that question, muhahah muhaha (evil laugh)

The other day i was on google sketchup and i planned out my whole tank in my basement with full qt tanks, fuge, frag tanks ect. problem is my house doesnt even have a basement. sometimes i take day dreaming a little too far.

I completely understand that. I was thinking how I could add a sump without building a stand. I came up with an idea of drilling a whole in a wall to put a tank in my pantry. Problem is, I rent my house. Lol

After two failures I took a year off and researched everything I could about this hobby(addiction). Found out my failures were due to bad advice from the lfs. I've spent many nights planning my new build. With all the information out there it does get a little confusing but I made my decisions and stuck to my plan. I'm now in the process of a 65 gallon lps tank build. It's been up now for 6 months and is looking good. The most important piece of information I got was to take things slow. It pays off, believe me. Make a plan and stick to it as much as possible.
