I have to admit, when I first looked at how this thread was going, I didn't think I'd like the setup, but those are beautiful tanks

Thank you so much for explaining that in such a nice way. It's definitely a difference in cultures! Your home and tank set up that you have built is very, very impressive.

I have the the Reef Octopus 4. If you can see it in the picture there is a wide black bar under the words Reef Octopus and that is where I keep the water level. I couldn't get a picture of my entire sump because of where it's located and the center brace is in the way but basically the skimmer is in the first chamber where the water enters and it stays at a constant level there, enabling me to keep the water at the right height for the skimmer. I built a simple stand from eggcrate and zip ties to get it high enough in the sump.

here comes the major change to the plan...

i got rid of the goldies, it was like every one coming home and commenting how ugly they were.... and i felt bad plus everyone in house didnt liked them and wanted old angels back so got them

the back stones were moved in front and back was laid with my old sand and topped with some left over amazonia sand...

plans are to plant valsnerias and moss nothing else, it will be a low tech just my CREE LED 14 nos unit no co2 no fertilizers.... lets see how will the vals manage.

regarding the coraline algae i have a small original live rock got it from LFS and it has a coralline on it. it is kept under the light and near the wavemaker. i am also dosing purple up to the tank for calcium but still no signs of coralline please help....

today morning checked the water parameters

all the parameters seems to be on positive side including nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, PH and cal

    calcium is around 480 mg

phosphates seems to be on a bit higher side its 0.08, have kept Seachem Phodguard on the sump outlet are ll be controlled in couple of days and check the parameters again

    here is my mini lab
