It seems like you could make it work with a sump setup. It wouldn't be so much a matter of a powerhead power issue in my head. I can see making the entire tube like an overflow and just pump the water back up to the top. If you had a valve on the bottom to keep the flow running slowly enough maybe it could work, but there would be a constant downdraft. Not sure how you could keep rocks in there. Magnetic rocks probably won't work with that shape of glass on the walls, since its so rounded.

Whatever you do - start by putting a magfloat in there before you cap the ends at all. :)

Be cool over a headboard or on a shelf.

Make it a jellyfish tank :) Or connect to tanks with it would be sweet.

I think connecting tanks with it would be awesome. That way, you could even put a light over it and let stuff like zoas grow in there. Have a pump from one tank to the other, and you would get flow across it. Even better, add a second pump in the other direction, and have them alternate randomly throughout the day, and you get alternating flow across there.

It's going to be difficult to keep it clean. A Magfloat can do it, but it can only be used parallel with the tube (otherwise the ends would cause the middle of the mag to not touch).

I think your best bet (other than using it to connect two tanks) is to go vertical. Build it so an air pump is at the bottom.

I think those bubbles would be all the flow you could really do and keep it oxygenated.

Given its size, I would also make it FW over SW...

Though... if it were me... I'd try to come up w/some horizontal way of doing it for an eel of some sort...

when i saw the pics i thought you gonna make your own skimmer. i donno if it is possible to custom make or diy a skimmer. but connecting 2 tanks is a cool idea too. personally i would cut the tube in half and connect the 2 tanks with 2 tubes with water circulating in oppsit direction in each tube. i wont suggest growing anything in them just for the fact that cleaning them will be more difficult. it would be awesome to see the fish swimming from 1 tank to the other. good luck and let us know what you decide to do
