Thanks Matt!!! The only thing that scares me is when the salt says Nitrate and Phosphate free. :-/

 

Wouldn't it scare you more if the salt didn't say it was nitrate and phosphate free?

Were you using ESV salt mix exclusively Matt? Does this mean you'll change? I'd like to order the stuff but not sure if I'd be getting the new formula. I've already read that MD staff may be willing to check

 

No I was not using the ESV salt - just the 2 part ESV alk/cal additives.

 

MD will not ship the new stuff until all the old formula is gone, and who knows how much they have in stock?..... Seriously... Who here knows?

The old formula is in a white bucket. The new formula is in a black one. To be 100% certain, I would try to find a local dealer and verify the color of the bucket before you buy.

 

Prefer it say NO NITRATE NO PHOSPHATE.Call me crazy.

In my book, "Nitrate & Phosphate Free" is exactly the same as "No nitrate, No phosphate". Maybe I misunderstood, but you and blackraven are talking about the same thing, although Blackraven does make sense in saying

Matt, thanks a lot for running these tests. I have some reef crystals left to mix up about 50 more gallons if my calculations are right... by the time I need more, I really hope all the other people bought the old formula and that they start shipping the new stuff.

Who was the site that posted the pic of the new salt but it was in fact the old one? I can't remember... I'll look back.

 

I always thought when they wrote nitrate or phosphate free it was code for might contain this. But as I have been reading I have seen other places were it says there are none in this salt.Call me paranoid?

Seems to be black bucket stuff on Marine Depot. And the two reviews at the bottom are quoting similar test results. Who wants to stab at it. I still 100 gallons worth of Tropic Marin. But I'll be killing that off when I fill my new cube.
