I was in home depot, and saw a flashlight with a cree xpe in it. I thought it would be nice (didnt see a price tag)
I go to check out, and the thing was $50, for one LED! Needless to say I left it behind

I have a Gerber Military Flashlight with only one Led, it produces 100 lumens. They retail for $150, but I found it on Amazon for $30 :D btw if you are preparing for Sandy your real expense will be gas ;)

Just get lots of Gas, the biggest mistake most people make is not getting enough gas. Also water, get lots of water. How many watts is your Generator?

Ill have to look, I use it on worksites, it is big enough for the fridge, lights, tanks, and water heater. I have city water, so that is not an issue. And yup, 10 gallons stored, 7 in the generator.

17 gallons? multiply that by 7 and you will be safe. Usually the gas pumps go dry a few days before the storm and they do not get more gas until a few days after the storm. You can easily burn 17 gallons in one day. I would seriously consider getting some more gas.

Really? That will last me a week no problem. Running 24/7 is not neccessary. It is a 5500watt generator, i went through irene with less gas than that, and it was a 5 day outage

Expect the worst. Prepare for at least two weeks of having no power. If it's cold you may need heaters all the time. So many people have to drive a few hours away to get more gas, we've had to do it before and it's not fun trying to find a pump that has gas. Have as much gas as you would need to run it constantly just in case. If you don't use all the gas you can always run your lawnmower or your car with it.
