Im curious to know what you think about drinking R/O DI water on a regular basis.

I find DI to have a very blah, bland taste. Scientifically or medically speaking, there is not one single conclusive study showing drinking DI to be detrimental to the human body. The subjects would have to survive on DI water alone, no food, supplements or anything else since even a potato chip or two would give you back everything that DI has removed from the water. There have been lots of studies but all come out unsuccessful or inconclusive in the end.
I don't drink RO/DI, only RO, because number one it is not refreshing to me, if I am going to drink something I want it to taste good and number two it is somewhat expensive to make compared to RO and a waste if I am not going to enjoy it. Medically there is not reason not to drink it though.

I have always heard that you shouldnt drink it on a regular b/c of the fact that it is, what I call "dead water". All the vitamins and minerals that we need are filtered out. That you can drink it b/c its water, but not to do it on a regulat basis.

I'm with Rat--I intercept the water at the ro, and fill my 5 gal water bottle that sits on the dispenser--easy to do--just remove the line at the John Guest fitting at thr RO output, and install a 3 ft piece of line to the 5 gal jug--when done just hook it back!!

Old wives tales with no scientific backing. We receive such a miniscule amount of our vitamins and minerals from water its a non issue. There is no way you can dehydrate your body with DI unless as I said before, you existed on DI water alone with no solid food or other liquids.

I had a 14 gallon pressure tank that was filled by the RO then I fed my DI from there so I always had pressurized drinking water. The larger pressure tank reduced the effects of TDS creep so I did not get high TDS build up in the RO water.

Today I use a Spectrapure MaxCap UHE 1:1 RO/DI system and for now they do not have provisions for an RO only add on so I have a seperate system for drinking water. When I had the reuglar MaxCap system it was hooked to the pressure tank and served both purposes.

Yeah, I also have the MaxCap 90gpd and I love it. BTW, Spectrapure has a great sale on their filters.

I just want to get my tank filled now without waiting to purchase an RO/DI unit. I will purchase one but it will come later. Now I'm debating between the culligan water and just buying jugs of distilled water.

do NOT use distilled. many times distilleries are copper. Culligan water will suffice. i used it for 1.5 yrs in my 36 gallon with no problems. i recently switched to RO/DI out of convenience, but culligan will be fine in the short term. also, be sure to use a dechlorinator such as prime since the water will not be 0 tds.

I live in an apartment and to get an RO/DI unit installed is 40 dollars more than the unit itself....
