WOW! That is a nice peice of technology! That would make life much easier on my freshwater tank! It makes me exitied to wonder in 20 years what all the filters will look like!

That is a nice looking piece of equipment, but at around $450 for a filter made to handle an 80 gallon load, I'll stick to more conventional means for the time being.

It still dosnt offer the benefits of a sump though. Sumps have the benefit of having lots of room for other componenets (skimmers...) and adds water volume to the system which has several advantages.

Your right, the price does need to be worked on.

Yes you are also right - sumps have many more benefits, but remember that many people dont have sumps or the option to have one. Also there is a huge fresh water market out there were sumps dont really benefit anyone.

Personally i think this is a fantastic looking peice of equipment, and compared to its rivals would outshine them by miles, but the price is a little too much - and of course, when we are talking salwater, specifically reef, a sump is by far the better choice.
But i do think, given the price was right, that this could be the ultimate filter for a fresh planted aquarium.

It's really nice for freshwater systems, without a doubt. I would wait a while for the price to drop.

I dont think its the filters them self that warrants the bad name. Its more of the people using them wrong. Canister filters are fine and a good addition IMO as long as they are cleaned right and often, if not they cause problems, but if used correctly they are fine.
