why do i keep reading that a purple tang needs a 100g tank? am i doing something wrong by planning on adding it to my 90g? especially with the rest of my fish list, i am kinda concerned. do you guys think the purple will be ok in my tank? i will get a yellow instead if i have to...but i really really wanted the purple. :)

    Hey Roger,

Your[glow=Blue, 3, 900]Purple Tang[/glow]should be fine in your 90g tank. This is what LiveAquaria.com says about the PT, "If keeping them, be sure to provide good lighting, lots of free swimming space and plenty of potential hiding spots." I think as long as you've got that covered, 10g here or there isn't going to make any difference at all. ;D

I just LOVE my skunk clenar shrimp. I will use any excuse to post pics of him. This is Doc:

I agree with both Karla and Wrassman, 10 gallons off is no bigge. Besides plenty of hidding spot, good light, good nutrition, I'd also make SURE he has enough swimming room. Don't go overboard with trying to give hime hidding spaces, he'll like to roam.

thanks for the reassurance everyone! karlas, i did get a cleaning crew: several blue and red legged hermits, 1 brown legged hermit, several nassarius snails, 2 turbo snails, 1 cleaning shrimp. it looks just like yours, so i guess it must be a skunk. what are the scarlet lady shrimps then? should i get a chocolate chip star to clean up fish poop? will it eat other inverts or fish? will it knock stuff around? if i should get it, when will i add it? or what else will eat fish poop?

Chocolate chip stars eat corals, if you wanna keep corals, you don't want a choicolate chip star. BTW, they don't eat fish poop, nor does ANY starfish for that matter. I don't think there is any critter that will consume fish poop, bacteria yes, critter no. Back to the chocolate chip star, he'll knock stuff around too. Fish only with live rock is a perfect tank for the chocolate chip star, so's a clown-of-thorns starfish. C-o-T are the best clean up critter for a FOWLR system.

Scarlet Lady Shrimp is probably the same thing as a cleaner shrimp. they go by many names, Skunk Shrimp, Scarlet Skunk Shrimp, Cleaner Shrimp, etrc.
