    The Fish Within Us

"What is most surprising is not that we once lived in the sea, but that we are still evolving."

Four years ago, while digging in the Canadian Arctic, paleontologist Neil Shubin discovered the 375 million-year-old fossil of a fish that appeared to have both neck and hands. It was seemingly clear evidence of the transition from life in water to life on land. Scientists heralded the find as their best answer yet to the creationist argument that an absence of such "missing links" is evolutionary theory's most obvious flaw.

"Converting a fish into a human is like converting a Beetle into a hot rod."

    Ever feel a bit "fishy"???
    ;D

(Not meant to offend any "creationists" here at 3Reef - :-/ - am not sure I totally buy story either.)

A lot of the scientists who say we evolved from other animals, if you take their timelines of the species we were suppose to have evolved from. They over lap.

IMO, there are several species of humans... White people, Black people, Asians, Middle easterners etc etc. They even found a tribe of "hobbits" in the south pacific several years ago that flies in the face of the people saying we evolved but you never see that mentioned. Hobbits Of The South Pacific. Im not trying to preach about religion and all that, Im just saying the scientists have got it wrong.

Know I am really swinging off thread, but just want to add a little followup to what geek said.

I actually met a real "hobbit" years ago in the Pioneer Bar in Sitka Alaska. Was about 3 feet tall and had beard that went down to his knees. (I did not ask him if his feet were hairy but assumed they were.)

Cool thing was he had a large dog which he could ride. And lived on a sailboat where every thing was built to his size. A normal sized person would almost have to get on hands and knees to get in door and no way could stand up once inside.

He was a fantastic mandolin player which seemed more like a full blown guitar to him. I visited there several times just to make music with him as at time was a very active 5-string banjo player and traveled all over state in BG band.

He went by the name "Terry the Hobbit" --- expect might still be there. But this was many, many years ago. :-/

    Hobbits do exist! :cheesy:

    Waaaayyyy off topic...sorry...:p
