Milwaukee Instruments has always made top notch tools for aquarium hobbyists and their latest are no exception. The recently available MA887 digital refractometer is accurate within .002 on SG and can measure from 3 different scales. And their new MW700 Lux Meter has a waterproof probe now so you can take measurements from the bottom of your tank where it matters the most. Seeing all of Milwaukee's tools on display recently, this 3reefer wanted to throw them all in a sack, but for now I will have to be content with the attached PDF and start savings some nickels. As usual, great stuff from our friends in NC. More details inside thread.

The New MA887 Refractometer and MW700 Lux Meter from Milwaukee Instruments

The new Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer encompasses 3 different types of user selected scales for the measurement of seawater providing for a much more precise evaluation. Each scale is temperature compensated.

    1. PSU – The newest type scale standard – Letters stand for Practical Salinity Units and is fast become the universal standard for seawater measurement

    2. ppt – The old standard of Parts Per Thousand of saturated salt. This is the oldest of the 3 seawater measurements scales

    3. S.G. The current standard of Specific Gravity hydrometers and refractometers.

The Milwaukee Instruments MA887 digital refractometer is easy to calibrate and easy to read and provides highest accuracy possible for the measurement of seawater 3 specific scales. This is the type of accuracy demanded by today’s professionals and Milwaukee Instruments delivers.

MW700 waterproof LUX meter -- Milwaukee Instruments offers the only LUX meter in the world with a sensor probe designed to drop into a tank and measure the light LUX at the bottom of a tank where it matters most. The idea is to take a measurement with a new set of bulbs and then take measurements ever 30 days to check the degradation of the light bulb sets intensity. At about 20% to 25% degradation the bulb set should be replaced. This meter is the only way to take that test accurately.

As weird as it sounds, they are not based in Wisconsin, but in North Carolina.

I wish they would make a PAR meter like the new LUX meter they make.
