my skimmer failed and i had to shut my bio pellets down. my nitrates were dropping and kept dropping. but now the pellets have been sitting for 5 days in the same water as when i turned them off ( after the skimmer failure) the new pump arrives on friday for the skimmer. and i have been thinking should i do a water change now and run the bio pellets in the bucket of water change water, that i pull from my tank till friday to clean them out. ? will this work? and allow it to keep the bacteria i had built up going? whats your thoughts? or wash them and start over?

Hello, rinse the ecoBAK in clean and fresh aquarium water and start them up again. Dispose of the old water in the reactor now.

They are gently tumbleing. The previous reactor had them basically clogged up. I did add 0.5l when changing to the larger reactor also. It is an MRC-XL for pellets. The water is slightly less cloudy than yesterday. I also dropped the temp to 77.

it should be fine... the new reactor and the extra 500ml put you back into a new break-in period. It should be crystal clear in a few days.

Thanks a lot. Bill tells me it will look like the fish are "swimming in air".

That's a common observation... the water looks REALLY clear when running ecoBAK!

Hey Jon--I will be starting to run EcoBAK this week--should I turn off my UV for a couple months?

I've been running ecobak for a year now with good results. I am having trouble with reactors. As things gum up and slow, my nitrates tend to creep up and everything needs a cleaning. I.can live with that, but it happens too often with my modified phosban. My BRS reactor just gets lousy flow and tumble because the hoses and fittings seem too constricted. I need a recommendation. If price is no object, what is the best reactor. If price is an object, but not a major limitation, then what is the best choice?

    Thanks!
