    In a word, NO.

    We like to direct the output water into the same compartment as the protein skimmer because it better facilitates the export of the nutrients/bacteria. If the bacteria enter the system in the water stream they will circulate until settled or skimmed.
    There is no mechanism there to "crash" a system.

    Awesome! thanks. I am building a sump, and will be using a reactor that will be in the same area as the skimmer. I was just wondering.

    one more question: can you provide a link to the exact microbe lift product you were referring to? Or at least the exact name. They have a ton of products...

    Microbe Lift "Special Blend" and ProdiBio "Bio-Digest" are the two best products at this time...

    Never had experience with Ecobak, but am debating going this route. One question though, and sorry if this has been discussed. Can ecobak be run without a skimmer? What are the pros/cons of running ecobak without a skimmer?
