I doubt the accuracy of both. I would start like suggested with 1/4 of the total and add the other 1/4 every month. Go slow, it's much easier to add more than it is to recover from dropping nutrients too quick.

A regular test kit does not measure phoshate low enough for the levels we are concerned with. You need something like the hanna checker.

That will help, but shouldn't change your method.

Are you experiencing any problem algae, diatoms, etc? If not, why are you wanting to add the pellets?

I would highly suggest doing way more research before adding this to your system. Go back to the first page of this thread and actually read all of it. If you are concerned that adding this could somehow "harm" your system, you should get a better understanding of exactly what you are adding to the tank.

This to me, is exactly why people have had bad experiences with bio pellets in general. They add them, and all at once, just looking for the end result, and not knowing or having a good understanding of what a bio pellet is, and what it is actually doing while it is tumbling. Read, read and then read some more, and then if you still have questions, dont be afraid to ask them.

this has helped me tremendously throughout the time I have had a saltwater tank. good luck, and happy reefing

His comment was the most helpful thing anyone could possible say to you... Running biopellets is a serious decision that if you don't do properly will wipe your tank out. It's not hard, but you need to know what you are doing to the chemistry of your tank before starting.
