Running ecoBAK is easy BUT you do have to follow a few guidelines AND understand why we establish those guidelines. These guys here are a WEALTH of knowledge in the hobby and can steer you in the right direction in this hobby.

Then you are best to leave pellets alone for now and focus on changing more water for nutrient reduction. As far as pod populations, I feel sure there was a misunderstanding about what gcarrol told you. Bio-pellets and pods have very little correlation that I am aware of. Throw a ball of chaeto in your sump with a light and that would do some for your pod production.

Sorry man, if I came off being rude, that was not my intent at all. I just wanted to make clear that understanding bio pellets is a must IMO before adding them to your system. Just like you would hopefully research a fish or coral before adding it to your tank. You want to know as much as possible so, you dont harm them, or anything else in the tank. They are not complicated by any means. A simple understanding is all I have. I am by no means an expert, but knowing what carbon dosing does, and then what a solid form of carbon dosing is, and what it is capable of is essential IMO.

Ok, so Jon, I added the the additional pellets on Sunday around noon. I increased the tumble a bit, and tested last night. My phos had dropped from 0.26 to 0.08 in 2 and a half days! I was amazed, and had to test again just to make sure. It dropped a lot faster than I thought it would.

thats great news... higher flow is useful in very low nutrient systems but we still like to see lower flow rates for most systems BEFORE they reach the low nutrient stage.
