The proper way to level a tank stand?

    Yeah, when I set my 265 up I went to HD and got them. They wont rot or smash so much.

    I picked up composite shims from Lowes so that should work good.

    im bringing a thread back from the dead

    so if the end of the tank is getting shimmed should u put shims all the way down the front and back of the stand to fill in the gap?

    i would do that, just to give it proper support along the length and side. space them out every foot or so.

    If you have more weight on one side of the tank than the other, as would happen when a tank isn't level, won't the styrofoam compress more on that side, and make the unevenness worse than it would have been without the styrofoam...?
