well i was out buying my background and i saw some CaribSea aragonite with out a price so i decided to have the LFS girl PC it ... well to make a long story short she could not find the price so she said how about 10 bucks

figuring that was a good deal i bought all 3 bags they had

15lbs bags of the 1-2mm "seaflor special grade"

since i want jawfish i can not use the "fine" or "very fine" grain sands

my question is should i use all of this kind of sand or should i mix it with another kind?

    Do you have a photo?
I would not think it would really matter, just depends on what LOOK you want for your aquarium.

I used that for my pair of yellow heads and my blue spot, just give them a lil rubble and they're fine. The sand is totally cool with them though, the rubble just makes it look better (more natural appearance).

i was getting my info from my Live aquaria because my LFS could not tell me why they needed rough substrate

[glow=blue,2,300]The Yellowhead Jawfish is moderately hardy. It tends to be shy and is best kept with other docile fish. It will not bother other tank inhabitants, but other burrowing fish may bully it. It needs to be kept on 5-7 inches of fine soft substrate such as sand of various particle sizes (not fine).[/glow]

if i can go with all this kind of sand i would like too because i really like the look under my antics :)

Yeah, that will work. I like live rock rubble or the puka shell mix from Caribsea, some largers chunks is good.

BTW, getting info from liveaquaria isn't always the best bet. I used 3-4" sand it they were perfectly fine. The yellow head pair went thru several batches of eggs so i don't think they minded :)

thanks a lot that will save me a lotta $$$ in sand and i can get the look i wanted (was thinking 3-4 dunes about 4.5" tall with the valleys being 3")

oh btw do you know of a good site for fish/coral/inverts that you can search for by common name?

The dunes will even themselves out most likely, but definitly give that a go, sounds cool.

As for sites to search by name, you mean commercial sites selling stuff, or informative sites?

    Hows that Aquaball treating you?
