I think I'll be using the CaribSea special flor grade sand with the CaribSea coarse aruba puka shell as rubble. This is also what I have been using in the aragocrete for the reef rock I have been making. The sand is nice. I don't think using the sugar sand is a good idea for me, IMHO, because I can imagine it blowing all over the place while I move a powerhead around.

Do you think the same mix will do okay in the refugium or should I use some thing different? [smiley=anxious.gif]

After you put in your LR it really does not matter, Just remember that most gobies don't like it being to big.

Thanks again Nautilus...Maybe just the special seaflor grade in the 'fuge.

The coarse puka has like whole shells and tube shells in it so it was perfect for the rock. Actually I think I'll run out of it by the time the rock is done. So maybe some medium grade puka like Ice's picture will be better to mix in with the special grade, at least for the display.
I like the idea of a few gobies runnin' around in their.

Also things like crushed coral and big shells (after some time just ask New2Salt2) will effect your Nitrates as they hold gunk inside of them that you can't vacuum out and must be removed. IMP I would stick with sand or Arogonite sand.

The CaribSea special grade seaflor is available at LFS for $28 for 40lbs. I can live with that. It is pretty and no rubble.

I'll just use the puka shell as decorative on the rocks.

Thanks once again Oh informative one!! :D

FWIW.. DONT USE CC at all. it holds everything. so far in my experience if stirred up it can release bacteria that raises your amonia and nitrates.. also found my Calcium rise. i have removed it and all seems well.
