I have a 90 gal reef. Now I built a refugium that host everything from macroalgae to copeapods. I was told you put your heater and protein skimmer on the refugium. So I put a Sea Clone 100 on it. Well now my display looks as if I have saw dust floating on the water. (yuck the only guest that would like that is a wood worker). Anyway so I picked up another Sea Clone 100. I also did add the wooden airstones to both skimmers for more bubbles. So the question is will this help or is there something elss causing the saw dust?

Are microbubbles from the Seaclone making it to your display tank. If you unplug the seaclone and let the tank sit for an hour or two, does the "sawdust" settle or is it still floating around in the display tank?

Do you have a mechanical filter pad? You should have some sort of filter pad to pull out debris. It sounds like your water isnt flowing into the overflow fast enough.

sounds like to me that you don't have enough surface agitation. Point a couple of powerheads to the surface to breat it up. Oh and get a new skimmer

The saw dust does not sink. I have not put the second skimmer on yet. But I have four maxi jets at bottom of tank to make waves should I put on near the top?

Two seaclones? For the price of those you could have gotten 1 decent skimmer on Ebay. Get rid of those and get something like a coralife 120, they're inexpensive.

It sounds like either micro bubbles or organic debris from the refugium. I would move the skimmer off of the refugium and put it on the sump. Skimmer have been known to produce lots of micro bubbles until they break in. The sea clone is no exception and is not the of the highest quality. If it is micro bubbles, you can either build a bubble trap in your sump or put a piece of foam on the skimmer out let or the return to your tank.

Will I put the corallife 120 on the fuge or tank. The fuge I have is home built it has 3 chambers. 1st chamber has bio balls when water goes in. 2nd chamber has live sand macroalgae and the 3rd chamber has filter pad and a rio 2100 for the return.
