This topic has cropped up and hijacked several threads, so I thought I'd have a Bucket topic going to clear out the (un)wanted spamming.

Which do you prefer? PC or Macs. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm confused as to how you got on the internet to begin with.

I'll hold my opinions until later. But I will say, every computer we've ever had, including the ones my family has now, have and always will be PC's. :D

Ugh...this topic gets as ugly as the deep sand bed debates. I'll be keeping my eye on this one so let's try not to get heated or...well...you know! ;)

I prefer Mac for web browsing, vs PC... No matter how old my mac is it still is faster on the web than any of my families PC's... Even now that my mac is two years old!. But I do admit PC Is basically better for most every other thing.

I just surf the web and chat and stuff... So the Mac is more me!

    There's no 'best' choice.

MAC ==> If you don't know much about computers, and have lots of money.

PC ==> If you want way more power for your money, like having choices among different manufacturers, and know how to install $25 anti-virus software.

    Simple as that. Really is.

    Hi. I'm a PC.

    ;D

One thing I think is fundamentally wrong with this debate is that it isn't Mac vs PC. Even though we think it is. It's really MacOS vs Windows.

PC also = Linux (unix, SCO, netware, etc.)

I run Ubuntu on my laptop (for just browseing the net), XP on my gaming box, WinXP (soon to be Win7) on my work laptop.

I wouldn't be able to get anything done at work on a MAC. PC required. PC wins.

I can't play games on my Linux PC (by and large) nor can I play most games on Mac without some fancy porting or running it in a Windows emulator of sorts anyway.

If you want raw calculating power, well, there's a reason all the super computers of the world are build on PC architecture. NY Stock Exchange runs on ProLiants for example. MAC couldn't keep up.

If you're just doing basic user things... then MAC has a benefit - it can run office type apps, is about as secure as linux but more user friendly than most Linux GUI's (for those of us that prefer GUI). Also the way MACs hardware/OS are so integrated is fantastic. That is a big plus.

Hardware wise, MAC's are very overpriced. The bang for the cycles buck just isn't there. Dollar for dollar, you can get a much faster and beefier PC than a MAC.

    really depends on your needs...

enterprise solutions, business solutions, college note taking solutions, gaming solutions...
