    PC.

I cant imagine trying to figure out my company network on a mac. Does mac have a sever OS? and its impossible to get business done on any mac product...including the iphone :party-smi

Small business server is a PIA but atleast i can figure it out.

I cant even figure out how to right click on a mac to get to an advanced options menu.

When i get on a mac i feel like the first day on a job...every time though.

...I do like all the fancy fingerwork you can do with the macbook air touch pad though.

but ill take my ibm x61. its a tank. It literally got thrown like a projectile into a wall... and didnt even miss a beat. I tend to doubt that a mac air would fair so well....

I agree that a poll should be added

Actually you are wrong. When people refer to PC, they are talking about a windows based machine. Not Linux or anything else.

If you ask someone that is running linux, they'll usually say "i have a linux machine" or something similar. Not a PC.

The technicality is not important here, "PC" refers to a windows based computer in the minds of most people so its widely accepted fact.

Infact i remember when i was taking my first certification test, they specified this very same point and said not to point out these kinds of irrelevant technical errors to customers because its not good customer service.

If you want to get technical about it you can also call a MAC a PC. SInce its also a personal computer. But we dont do that.

I've been building computers for 15 years, trust me i know what im talking about.

In my opinion, Macs just aren't worth the bells, whistles, and benefits they come with vs. PC's. I believe that the biggest thing that keeps the average person away from a Mac is the price.

I look for computers with good gaming/graphics abilities, decent inernet access and chat stuff, and school or office stuff. Frankly, PC's get those jobs done much better than, and for half the price of Macs. My laptop is an HP Touchsmart, with equal to or better speed, processing power, graphics, gaming ability, office stuff (Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, OneNote), and of course it has a flippin' touch screen. I've taken written notes on this thing before. And I got it for $680 (student discounts for the win). So I got this for basically half the price of your standard Mac laptop.

And as someone said before, being on a Mac is like the first day on a job. Every time. PC's were built to be mostly user friendly. They're easy to use and follow anyways. Sometimes I feel that Macs make things annoying and difficult just to be different.

Well they both have their places. Macs are designed for media usage and production, not gaming, and not businesses (although more companies are starting to develop business software for them).

Windows works just fine, its the users that generally screw it up. But at home, I use a Mac. All I do is listen to music, watch movies and edit photographs on my Mac, exactly what its designed for. Don't get me wrong, Mac can do a lot more than that though.

Also OSX has been WWWAAAAYYY ahead of Windows in the ease of use and slick presentation areas. Windows 7 is finally catching up to the style factor of OSX, but still not quite as easy to setup, configure and use.

Macs just work, Its Mac for me.

PC's(computer) and PC's(power compacts) are alike in that you realize how crappy they are once you've used a better system.

If you do video editing, audio work, graphic design, or something along those lines Mac is what you want to use.

PCs are more for office uses, gaming, and lower resource devouring tasks.

Both have viruses, malware, spyware, adware, and all those goodies. They are just more commonly programed for PCs since the Windows OS is more commonly used. As the popularity in Macs increase so will the numbers of the aforementioned goodies.

Another thing to think about is are you buying a prebuilt or "custom" machine from a leading manufacturer or are you building one yourself. The prebuilt and "custom" machines from dell and all those other companies don't use the best materials in their builds. They do offer excellent materials in their more expensive models, but it is not worth the money. I built a top of the line water cooled system a year ago for about 1k less than it would have cost from a company that builds computers.

What I am trying to get at is there are to many variables to compare two OSs. How they run all depends on how good of a machine you have. I could build a crappy Mac and not be able to run the new Mac OS and claim that Mac OSs are awful. Same goes with Windows.

If you hate all the extras and viruses run Linux or ubuntu. Then install wine and your all set to run windows software.

I say windows. I have to use both for work but if I can use my windows box I will. I have a few Macs for video but that is all I'll use them for. If I had more money in my budget I would replace them with some more windows based machines. Those Macs are so damn big and loud and slow. Linux can be fun. Every year or so I try a new distro. I set it all up and play a little bit with it then forget it unless I need to go mobile. oh and nothing will beat a dedicated linux firewall, well maybe a pix but I'm not too good with cisco so I haven't set it up yet.
