Your tank looks really nice! I think it may be Mg. You really need a tester. As soon as you test that you might not have to add as much Ca. :)

I am getting test kits for Mg, Ca, I and PO4 here in the next few days from Tangster. I will know what's up with my levels then.

Today has been a busy day. It started around 11AM when I noticed a leak from my tank. Thankfully it was from my the proximal and of my accordian hose that comes from my overflow. So I took out my lighting, removed my canopy, took out the overflow and started to do what I have been meaning to do for the last few weeks. PVC plumbing.

So, an hour later, I had that done. I tested it out, checked for leaks, nothing......turned off the return (to let it cure) and took off for the LFS to get some stuff.

My kids were sooooooo good today. We took off at around 2PM and got back at 6PM. The first stop was Poulsbo. Mario is closing down his shop here in the next few days. I picked up two false Percula clowns (mated pair), 12 lbs of LR, three tube worms, a large coral piece called a Turbinaria and some odds and ends.

Then we stopped by Eric's LFS to get 20g RODI water. By this time the kids were getting a little antsy so I was in and out. On the way home from Silverdale (about an hour in traffic) the corner of the bag holding the Perculas sprouted a minor leak. My son had to manage the leak and keep the water in all the way home. Good boy.

Got home, started acclimating the livestock, fed the kids, played with the rocks in the nano, let the clowns go in the nano, placed the corals and moved some stuff around and turned on the return to do a final test of my plumbing. No leaks. Excellent. Put the canopy back on and replaced my lighting.

It has been a very productive day. I am very happy. I do a water change tomorrow and go see live music with the kidlets. Sorry about the long post......I just had a great day with all things SW and offspring.

    Peace.......John.

nice pics john!! your Turbinaria is also known as a "pagoda cup" i have one too and i love it, once yours gets established try feeding it some brine shrimp, its really neat to watch the little pollyps fight over the morsels being given :)

Glad to see I'm not the only one. My wife gives me a hard time for listening to XM ch 8 -- the 80's all the time. the only thing that bugs here more is ch 130 the presidential politics channel.

John, what kind of starfish is that on the glass in your first pics? Is it reef safe?

It is a sandsifting sea star. You hardly ever see it. When you do see it, it is strikingly drab. Nothing special in terms of looks. But I don't have it for looks. It burrows underneath the sand and cleans up. It is recommended that (at least for a 75g) you only keep one. Otherwise, they run out of food and starve. And yes it is reefsafe. I got mine for $8 on eBay (pieceofthereef.com). They are not expensive. From time to time I see them at the LFS.
