Nice updates. It's amazing how fast they actually grow when all is well. I love to document with images, it really helps you nail down some common variables that may impact the corals growth. I will interested to see how you like the kalk system you've set up. Please keep us posted, I might go the same route.

 

I am so freaked out about the kalk. Excited but freaked. I have put a lot of time and effort into this tank these last couple months hate to see me screw up now. As always I will be overly cautious.

I will keep this updated with all new results once I get everything setup and going forward.

 

I happen to like kalk but it takes a lot of monitoring initially. You have to watch the tubing and pumps for occlusion and erosion.

Two little Fishies Kalk Reactor 300

 

Added the Two Little Fishies Kalk Reactor to tank and plumbed in-line with ATO. Kalk yet to be added. Did not get the dosing pump hooked up yet but did test to make sure all in working order.

 

I thought your dosing pump was for your Kalk.

Running it thru your ATO CAN cause problems.
Not Will cause, but CAN cause....

 

You are correct it can cause issue but a lot of people do run it that way successfully. Has a check valve between reactor and ato pump so no back flow, might consider a second 1. Have the tunze 3155 so redundant shutoffs and will have apex setup to shutoff the ATO if PH rises by more than .2 or higher than 8.2 because that would be an abnormal level for what my tank runs at.

Right now I have it set so it dribbles in(think I will add a tablespoon in tomorrow..maybe). Will see if that is enough flow to saturate the solution in the reactor.

If I find that unsuccessful I can use one of the jebao pumps. I bought the jebao (4 pump unit). The jebao is for my seachem 8.3 buffer which helps my ph and alk and also for my kent turbo calcium. My tank levels for alk drop 1 dkh and up to 20ppm calcium a day. Tank is averaging PH 8.1 so I am happy with that. Prior to buffer I was struggling with ALK dropping below 7 and PH was lower than I desired.

I am sure I will be seeing a reduction in need to supplement those.. fingers crossed. Other than that I will utilize it to dose my acropower. If I ever have a need to dose Mag I will have a pump for that also.

Hopefully I have enough checks in there to save me.
