After I added that 1.5 TBSP yesterday had some good spikes when top off kicked in and ended the day on a PH high of 8.25
Todays#'s overall very pleased. If I could stabilize things right here I would be happy! Well maybe a little extra CAL ha ha

PH low 8.08 - high 8.32 (this is the highest PH I have seen in this tank yet). Kalk certainly packs a punch and obvious how destructive it can be
    CAL 405ppm up 15 ppm
    ALK 8.904 up .392

Shipment from Aquasd should arrive tomorrow :)
A good and bad thing because wife going to kick my butt.

I think Kalk is something between 12-13pH, so yeah..... it's potent alright!

I was getting some wicked high pH readings, so I needed to investigate and my alk was a few DKH over where I wanted and my CA was dropping out... yikes.
I must admit, I was not checking as much as I should have been. ok, truth be told, I didn't test for a while... why? arrogance/laziness/lifeistoodamnbusysometimes. no good excuse, but I was kind enough to leave juuuust enough reagent for about 5 alk readings. I have about 1-2 more before my reagent gets here tomorrow.
I knew something was wrong when I saw my mycedium shrivelled up and all pissed off.

I'm slowly working back to water changes, since I haven't seen 'em for a while. I'm not even going to say their name.... I'm going to try and achieve smaller water changes more frequent. The only reason is to catch "those who shall not be named" early if they are there... and the other reason, smaller water change = smaller shock to the system.

Hopefully the aquaSD order makes up for the angry misses. ;)

It took me quite a while to dial in the kalk. I started at half the max non vinegar amount and decided it was too much so just added water to it. I use my 35 gallon ATO for mine so i just added more water until my alk was steady. I ended up having to use .5 tsp per gallon to get mine on track. I probably could have figured it out using math but math is hard so i didn't go that route. ;)

It does amaze me how peoples systems can be so different. Some people say they add nothing and do nothing and #'s are in range with NSW or within upper limit(I do not think this is the norm). Also they limit their WC.

If I do not stay on top of this tank the #'s will drop out of NSW within a week. I am actually quite amazed.
WC of 5gl just helps me keep my tank that much cleaner and takes 15 minutes.

Once I have the kalk dialed in my hope is that testing will be reduced to once a week.

Math and reading are my downfall!! I have to reread everything multiple times.
I am much more of a hands on person. Let me watch what you are doing and I will pick it up pretty quick.

The Goni is barely surviving (not sure how) in my other tank. When I originally had the bad test kits the goni took a big hit. Couple quick pics from yesterday but my main lens is broken and do not have money for the ones I want so have to deal with sucky pics
