Looking good chris! What's the secret to getting the Calcium at 1430 without precipitation? ;) Glad the red bugs are gone man.

Lol. Doing great man. Almost here, 7 more weeks. I'm running tests like crazy because I'm doing 15 gallons bi-weekly in the 75 instead of weekly. It's got me nervous because I'm so used to a regular routine. I'm reef wasted:confused:

Chris, I'm sure you didn't mean any harm with your proclamation "Happy Memorial Day" but please remember there is nothing happy about Memorial day, it's a day for remembrance of those that gave everything so we could have the freedoms we enjoy daily.

As your reading this pause for a moment to give thanks to all those that served. :)

Yeah I add one drop in my ATO about once every other week. I think is helps with color and pe although I have no scientific data to back it up or tell me why iodine would help with color and pe.

Remind me again what kalk stirrer/reactor your using. Are you still using it. nvm. Twofishies?

Some day can I get an image of the set up.

Oh yeah what pump do you have running in the back compartments?

Only update: colors are definitely coming back with reduced whites and so I have reverted back to 35% white for 2 hrs during peak day.
As with most things in this hobby what works for 1 does not always work for others. Trial and tribulations of saltwater hobby!

I have recently seen multiple comments on usage of the below for colors. I think DSC was 1 to mention it and his colors speak for themselves! I did notice A which is Iodine and is said to promote pink. I want to do a little more research on this myself.

    • Red Sea Coral Colors A (Iodine/Halogens) 100 mL - promotes pink colors
    • Red Sea Coral Colors B (Potassium) - 100 mL promotes red colors
    • Red Sea Coral Colors C (Iron/Complementary Trace Elements) 100 mL - promotes green/yellow colors
    • Red Sea Coral Colors D (Trace Element Complex) 100 mL - promotes purple/blue colors

Yes the Two Little Fishies KW Reactor 300

Older image and will get a better pic later when lights are on so you can see things better. However right in the back middle is the stirrer you can see the tube. Hangs off back and it has a pretty low profile. The stirrer is tied directly into my Tunze 3155 check valve between them(love this ATO do to adjustable flow knob inside controller.. wish it was on outside so I did not have to open it but whatever).

I removed the little IM reactor between the stirrer and skimmer. More of a pain in the azz than anything.

I love that usb fan.. Damn thing reduces temp by 3 to 4 degrees and with it running off the apex it is set to turn off at 78.2 and on at 78.5 so evaporation is not as bad as having it on all day.

Humm the pump is what came with the tank I will look around to see if I can find the model. It is

I am going to replace my stock pump with the Cobalt1200 gph is 295 compared to the mj which is 266 for a stock pump.

Thank you for the in depth reply, much appreciated.

Thanks for the compliment chris. I've been dosing thrive supplements lately. A LFS has the product at 60%off so I'm getting the bottles for 7 dollars a pop. Super concentrated so it lasts longer by dosing less. I've been using the alk, mag, and calcium plus the potassium and iodide. There really is a big difference in my stony corals. My lps look good but the Jedi mind trick monti, red planet and other sps have really began to pop.

Things are going steady for the tank. Except ha ha ha would you believe I adjusted my lights again.. Koookoooo Anyways down to 1 hr peek white of 35%. Colors are definitely heading back in the right direction:)

    SG 1.026
    Mag 1280
    Cal 430
    Alk 9.9
Nitrate 0 May have to look into adding a fish to the tank. Only have the clowns.

Purchased the red sea coral color test kits. Wanted to see where I stood in relation to Iodine, Iron and potassium

    Iodine .07 in range
    Iron 0 Low
    Potassium 400 in range

Did a swap with a local reefer. Got a Cali Tort frag "needs to color up", and a free 2 +" mili. Also got some Zoas, they are small "sunny Ds" he gave me a 3 polyp frag free because another person did not pick it up, red hornets, rastas, kazoo

Also moved my utter chaos from my other tank to this 1. Holy freaking bleep bleep bleep. The polyps were so small in my other tank I did not realize how many polyps there were. Counted 17 on 1 side on rock. I would think there has to be 40 or more total. Propped it on top 4 frag plugs so hoping for some frags"don't want to cut it up like others I have done". The Utter Chaos polyps have easily doubled in size within a couple days.

Lastly I have done further research on cause of my PH issue"well none issue because of kalk but still want to know why it is lower than most"
Anyways I was reading another thread and someone had posted an article from Randy Holmes-Farley about PH causes and curses and there was what I believe to be the answer to my issue"yet to be confirmed".

Some of you may know this is in my bedroom well that explains the low PH especially at night .. excess co2.. between the wife, dog "great dane so have to factor her in", and myself. So I will be adding air filter with co2 absorbent media. Will let people know how that goes when I get it.

    Anyways thats all folks

LOL Huge dogs snoring results in a lower pH, who knew! I definitely see the connection, I would have just never come to that conclusion on my own.

Looking forward to see the images of the new frags, sounds like you scored big time.

Thought about buying the Red Sea Pro color kit a couple times, it's been in the cart twice now. If I am doing water changes monthly then I am reluctant to, the volume of water is so small for me. I have heard of adding Iron by some expert hobbyist. Of course K+ for coloration as well. I have enough problem maintaining pH let alone start messing with more trace elements. I do add the Lugols though but I do not recommend it unless you research it.
