Thanks man, I can't wait either. I'm going to plumb up the return tonight and we should be able to start testing with fresh water.... I have a bunch more pictures I need to post too.

Thanks Ryan. We did it the easy way and upgraded from 75 to 90 before we built the 75 though. ;D

    Feet wet!

Got the stand sides tiled on Sunday. The silver thing on top is 1/2" foam insulation that I got at HD for about 3 bucks.

I was bored a few weeks ago so I did this. :) I drilled little holes in my street elbows and ran fishing line in there to keep critters out of the drain pipes.

And.......... drum roll please........ We have water! It's freshwater with 2 gallons of vinegar mixed in to sorta flush out the system. I'm going to run it with this for a few days to get most of the nasty stuff out. Only a few minor drips so far; nothing a little dab of silicone won't fix (he says with fingers crossed).

Here's the overflow all trimmed up and tuned for about a 2" water depth.

Woohoo!!!! Next steps are to get the controller installed and make a crap load of salt water. Total system volume is gonna be about 145 gallons or so. Will start working on the scape over the next couple days as well.

HOLY COW! This build is insanely well planned. Man, I'm a grab a beer and start drilling guy, this makes me jealous. I'm planning on a sump system in the basement, and this build prob just cost me ALOT of money in ideas I wanna do. Great build guy and gal;) Very well done, gonna have to start thinking again tomorrow about what to do after seeing this.

This is a great Build elwolfe!!! now I have a question i fyou don't mind, how did you know that you could drill an Aqueon tank I thought they had tempered glass? And when I did a bit of research it seems that Aqueon at times uses tempered glass not only for the bottom but for the sides as well?

Thanks Cosmo. I'm usually grab a beer and start drilling guy too, but this time I was grab a beer and read a bunch of build threads and come up with all kinds of crazy stuff guy... :)

    Me too!

Thanks man. We ordered the DT from our LFS, who had to order it for us. We told them we were gonna drill it and that tempered wouldn't work. They called around and verified w/ the manufacturer and we ended up with this. We didn't specify Aqueon. Then, I made the assumption that the 29 and the 40b wouldn't be tempered either. Fortunately I was right. ;D

On that 40b tank...any idea how thick the glass is? I have hear 1/4 and also 3/8. I need to cut some glass panels for a sump I am building, and need to know how wide to make them.

I ordered mine 17 3/8" wide x 15" high and it's a pretty good fit, holds the water level about 1/2" below the top. I didn't measure the actual panel when I got it though, I just checked to see if it was gonna fit.

I can measure it tonight if it'll help... Let me know.
