    From the right side....

You can see there's a good bit of room 'round back of the rocks.

Also a couple things I'd appreciate input on....

MP40: Sync or anti-sync? Reef crest? Nutrient Export? What to do? I'm sure it depends on what's living in there, which obviously changes over time. What mode for what situation?

Return: As you can see in the last couple pics I have 3/4" locline split to 2 x 1/2" returns on either side of the tank. One outlet agitating the surface and one outlet pointed into the MP40. My thought here is that it'd get the clean water all over the tank quicker. Good idea? Dumb? Does it matter?

    Really appreciate any thoughts!!!

Looks great. I can't comment on the MP40.

I will say that since the bulkheads for the return lines are so low in the tank, I believe you'll want them pretty close to the surface so in the event of an outage, they wont back syphon. And if you have them low because there is a check valve on there, I'd count on it failing and put them near the surface so you won't "possibly" lose 1/3 of your DT water in a worst case scenario situation... ;D

I can certainly attest to the fact that elwolfe's finish carpentry skills are not all there. ;D I was a little scared about the progress of the stand until he put the finishing touches on last night. Now, I love it and highly recommend! I like the thought of not worrying about ruining any woodwork with saltwater. And, it's super cool!

That was definitely a concern. When we were testing with freshwater I stopped the pump a few times and watched the backflow. I had the upward pointing outlets about 1/2 inch below the surface. It filled the sump to within about 3" of the top, so not much room to mess with there. No check valve...

I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I LOVE IT! :argue:

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
What a great build thread, I enjoyed reading it.

The stand or build is really wonderful. Scape looks fantastic.

Is this your first SW tank?

Hey, thanks Corailline! We have a BC29 that we've had for about a year and a half now. This is the first big one though....

Nice scape! Lots of room in the back!

Since the MP40s are on the each side (like most others including mine), you gotta set it as anti-sync. I placed the pumps one on each side too, so theyd act when one is at 80%, the other is at 20% (ReefCrest Mode). You set them as sync when you place multiple MPs on the same wall. I use the ReefCrest Mode all the time but I like using the standing waves by Short Pulse Mode time to time.

The beauty of the design of Bean, the particles in the display get removed really fast. I dont think it matters that much, but I try to use Short Pulse Mode so unwanted stuff wont settle on the sand.

Thanks Shin, will get 'em set up for anti-sync.

Thanks Cos. I'm glad you did too! You'd have an unhappy pistol/goby if their roof caved in. :cheesy:

Ok, so it's Saturday and we've been cycling since Monday with Frit Zyme 9 and ammonium chloride (tsp). Ammonia is starting to slowly decrease and there is a good level of nitrite, so it's definitely doing it's thing. Thinking another week or so and we should be about done.

I was thinking about starting to run some carbon to clear up the water a little faster. We have filter floss in the bubble trap going to the return section and I think it's pretty much done it's thing.

Any thoughts? Will starting up the carbon adversely impact the cycle?
