I'm finally getting back to cleaning massive hair algae from the tank, along with hundreds of the little green bubbles. I was told that these are neat and somewhat rare, but not here. Any, just curious if these things popping in the tank are poisonous? After cleaning most of them from the tank last night I found my pretty hardy yellow tail damsel dead today. Coincidence?

The hair alge is a PITA too..

i don't believe these are "poisonous" as i have popped them with a needle and scraped them out of my rock...none of my fish have died...

They arent poisanous just an unsightly nuisance!
If you pop them while they are in your tank, their spores will go all over the show and you'll ahve even more then before!

Emerald Crabs will eat them aswell. Also i've read that if you pop them while they are young(Before they reach sexual maturity) they will not spread the spores, though i dont know how much truth that holds. Hopefully someone here can say for sure if that is the case. im battling a case of bubble algea myself, the kind i have is pretty tough and does not pop to easily. im usually able to suck them up with a turkey baster.

I'm sucking them out as well (with some effort when not popped) but in addition to my Damsel dieing, the Pollips (sp) haven't had their tennicles out either. Gonna do another water change tonight and see if things improve at all.
