I noticed something pop up on my live rock this week. It has a sort of an orange round center with tiny bluish/purplish hairs that have what look like white air bubbles on their tips.

Yesterday my blue leg hermit was sitting on it and when it moved all the hairs had disappeared so I figured he ate them. Well a few minutes after he left the hairs reappeared.

Today I was feeding the fish in my tank. I looked over at the tank and see a big piece of the flake was being swallowed whole by this thing. The mouth on this thing is huge...LOL

Here's what pictures I could get of it eating the flake. Sorry the pic isn't that great but I haven't figured out the best way to take a good picture of things in my tank yet.

I was thinking it might be an anemone but it's so small I can't really tell yet. If they are tentacles then they are about as thick as a strand of hair. Only the circle in the middle is orange at least so far. If there's any sort of neck or stem or whatever under it I really can't see it.

When I first saw it I thought it might be some sort of weird polyp. I don't think polyps eat flake food though so I have no idea what it is. lol

When I clicked the link, I was expecting to see a bristleworm. Though your picture doesn't look like the mouths I have. Try to get some clearer pics. Clean the class, lower ISO setting, tripod perhaps. Moving the rock closer to the glass can help as well (if possible). And take the picture straight to the glass, any angle will distort the image and make focus very hard.

Also, macro function makes the small things bigger. Look for it in your camera settings. I should help greatly!

Thanks for the camera tips. I've been trying for ages to get pics of some of this stuff. Time to play with the camera. lol

Think it might be some sort of pseudocorynactis? Research research research...

I've been fighting with the camera but I'm afraid the pics I've already posted were the best ones I could get. I'll keep messing around with it and if I can come up with a better pic I'll post it. I could move the rock but it's happy where it is so I don't want to risk it deciding to wander around the tank. It's funny the best pics came from my phone and not the digital camera. lol

It does look a lot like the pics of pseudocorynactis I've been looking at so if it's not one of these it's probably a related species of ball anemone. About half of my LR is Fiji but the rest of it came from a mixed holding tank at my LFS so I have no idea which ocean it came from.
