10-20 isnt very bad... I don't know why you think that. I'll try to lower the nitrates this friday with a WC; besides, im doing a WC every Friday. Now I just have to stick to my feeding schedule which im not following because watching a fish eat is so cool lol

I forget; is this a reef or FOWLR? I'm thinking you said you wanted just soft coral?

10 nitrates is fine. I would try to keep it around that, but not much above...just keep up on water changes.

Shrimp don't need to be fed using meet. I had a pair of cleaners and they would eat stuff in the tank, along with any pellet food that the fish don't catch. Occasionally I dropped some Hikari in there for the shrimp.

it's a fowlr right now since i dont have the lights to keep corals. as for nitrates i do WC's every week so im not worried on that. 1 gallon water changes a week seems pretty sufficient. Right now the peppermint is just crawling around and... moving his legs like he's dancing XD.

also, is it normal for the shrimp to stay behind a rock at night just like moving his legs and cleaning his antennae?

i have a cbs pair in my 90 and they stay behind the rocks every night. also its not necessary to lowere your nitrates majorly unless your keeping very delicate corals and anemones, which im guessing your not. also a nice t5 or halide light would be pretty cheap for such a small tank. or for that tiny thing i would maybe do led. IME led's do better for smaller tanks rather than larger. i wouldnt do halides that would be a little overkill.

i agree; halides are too much. any good LEDs i can use? I do want this tank to be a reef after the tank has matured a bit. Maybe i should have gotten a CBS... nah, my old CBS killed my chromis lol
