Peppermint shrimp are cool little guys, congrats! One word of caution though, mine took a liking to LPS corals, specifically frogspawn. So when you go the coral route in the future, keep an eye on it, if it looks TOO interested in something it probably is.

Thanks both of you. The scape is pretty simple i guess; would still like a good hiding spot for a big fire shrimp in the future. For now I guess i'll leave it at this. Thanks for the heads up country; didnt know they'd nip at frogspawn. The peppermint is more of a "test" shrimp; gonna keep it for a few months and if it does well for that period of time I'll go and get myself a blood shrimp. So I'm just mixing water for a water change and yeah that's pretty much the small little update lol

Then the question is, why can't you get a 55g? it's going to be on the first floor anyways if you have 2 story house.

No I actually can. Dad actually trusts me again and will take me to the LFS again ;D He said he'd fix my 29 gallon cube, make it good as new, and i might go with it again. He said after winter he'd start sprucing it up but that'll be in a while. As for a 55 gallon... I can put it on the first floor but he has a fear that it might flood the first floor if i dont know how to use a sump during a power outage (what's it called, a valve?). He says he might get me one to have in the offie, which seems like a good spot because he's throwing out his desk, taking my mom's as his own (mom doesnt use the desk so it's better for him), and that spot could be used for a 55. Only problem with that is that in front of it is a window... and the door is next to it too and it has a window... Not sure if direct sunlight might be a total issue but till then we'll see how it goes ;)

My tank is infront of a window and has no algae. Buy some white blinds, You don't need a sump, it's more of a convenience. You can just have some LR and a powerful protein skimmer.

Save up for a 90g it's the same length as the 55, just taller and wider.
