the other day my neighboor came to me saying that his grass is going to die due to the rain were having. im thinking maybe the large amount of rain will drown the grass. nope. he said, the rain were getting is the remains of the hurricane from the gulf and is carrying saltwater instead of freshwater like we normally get. you cant help but look at him like he has three heads on his shoulder.

if anybody else has anything that just makes you just go HUH? or WHAT?, please feel free to add.

Rainwater can carry airborne pollutants. Salt from the ocean wouldn't evaporate with the water, but high speed hurricane winds could pick up saltwater (just as they could pick up a picket fence or bicycle...) and dump it onto the land. Moderately salting the yard will kill the grass and allow nothing to grow, as my neighbors may soon find out. But I doubt there is enough salt content delivered by a hurricane to do that job. For those living close enough to the shore where the sea water level rose and swept over the streets and lawns, your grass is probably toast; but it's also probably the least of your worries.

on an updraft such as an upside down tornado, yes i would agree.

i agree, but it will bind to the liquid form and not the vapor form

a hurricane will pick up salt, but dispenses it within approximately 15-20 miles inshore.

its interesting, you have to love mother nature.

weird I know a guy here in town that uses his water from water changes on his tank to water his grass and doesnt have any issues maybe it's something else in the water that can jack it up or prolonged exposure to salt water
