Thanks for the clarification, you sound knowledgeable about the important stuff. Doing your own research is def a great thing, lots of LFS have only profit on the mind, not the best interest of the hobbyists.

If the cardinal also died, then it may be something with where the LFS gets their stock maybe, not sure. A clown and cardinal are two very hardy fish. Clowns are pretty bulletproof and can go through some tough conditions and still survive. When I'm looking to buy new fish I usually try to get something that has been at the store for about a week, I usually have them feed the fish to make sure it's healthy.

Hard to say what's going on, doesn't sound like you did anything majorly wrong that would have caused the death/sickness. How did you acclimate them?

Mojoe - Yes I have seen read that the stores just wanna sell stuff. I think I have a pretty good one that is not going to try and rip me off, they actually are pretty honest, so that is pretty cool.

I thought they were pretty hardy too. Sounds like we may have gotten a bad batch since all my other stuff is ok. I figure that it may be they were in shock when they got to the store and we took them that same day and they just could not handle that. As far as acclamation we did the floating for 15 minutes and then added our water 2 times with 5 minutes in between and then took the fish out with a net and added to the tank. I was just hoping I was doing something else wrong that I could fix, but that does not seem to be the case. The hard thing with our store is they get the shipments in 2 times a week and if I wait a week those fish are no longer there. The store also does not guarantee their fish, which I have heard most don't. Maybe I will try ordering over the internet where they have the 14 day guarantee.

    Thank you for everyone's help!

Sounds like you acclimated fine, I've honestly seen my LFS just drop fish in and they're fine also (def not saying that's good, but it happens a lot). I agree that the stress of the fish being shipped to them, and then bagged and put in your tank may have been too much too quick. Also sometimes there are pre-existing things going on that we could never know about so it's just one of those things Ordering online from reputable places def isn't a bad thing, I know the shipping can just be killer.

See if your LFS can hold something you're interested in and see how it does. If they're cool they shouldn't have no prob with doing that, mine does it all the time. The last thing they would want is to have negative exp from their customers.

    best of luck!

That is a great idea! I think I have spent plenty of money at this store so I am sure they would not mind holding the fish for a few extra days for me. I will try that out before I pay the 34.99 online shipping. Thanks you for the great information.

What is your source water? Tap water can have funky stuff in it. I would try a small water change and see how he responds to that. If everyone else is doing good it is possible there is something that is bugging him in particular.

if the clown fish is still alive and not eating, are you soaking it in any vitamins or supplements. to get it to eat you could get whats called Garlic Guard because it usually really entices fish to eat when they wouldn't normally. Vitamins and supplements along with garlic guard is good to soak food in to give your fish a strong immune system. Some people use them, and some people don't, but i definitely recommend them.
