    Ah my glass lid came with plastic pieces I could cut for the back of the aquarium. Hence I can run my equiptment down and have no problems!

    What I've done is use acrylic sheets, about 1/4" thick and drill 1/4" holes all through it to allow air to pass through. You can cut the acrylic with a hobby knife, although it takes a little while and use an electric drill for the holes. The holes aren't completely necessary, but I like them to help with heat and gas exchange.
