I would eventually like to get a 75 or 90 gallon main tank that is reef ready with bottome that is drilled for connection to a sump. I would probably build theh sump to be a combo sump and fuge.

Basically I would like to do all my filtration and heating, etc in the sump. So I would need to get a skimmer for the tank. I used to one one of tose crappy seaclones and it never worked and eventually broke but I did nto need it for my 10 gallon reef tank anyway.... For this larger tank that I want to keep fish in I would need one..

So the question is what skimmer would be best for me????

I have heard great things about the aqua remora C skimmer.... But I just don't know what would be best. Is there another skimmer out there that is just as good or better? I am lookign to keep my cost down but I do realize you get what you pay for when you buy a skimmer so I would rather something that works well then a cheapo skimmer....

Anybody have any ideas. Plust it might be nice to have one that sits in the sump- but maybe a hang on back skimemr would allo more room for LR in the sump.... I don't know.

Aqua C EV240 would be good for that tank. My next upgrade will be to a EV400 or something equivenant. I have used the Remora Aqua C on a 55g and love it. That EV240 can go in or beside the sump.

Here's my opinion of the AquaC Remora

This 1st pic is the Old Skimmer. I won't mention the name, cause it's JUNK....You get what you pay for when skimmers are concerned.

The 2nd is the AquaC Remora......Nuff said! (pic taken 5 min ago)

If your looking at a 75G or 90G might I suggest a 120G. I know most people have space limitations but all these tanks are 4 foot long. Only the width is different.
That being said. There are a ton of skimmers you could use for an in-sump skimmer
    Aqua-C
    Deltec
    Octopus Skimmers
    Bubble Master
    Bubble King
    Euro-Reef
    H&S

Of course the biggest difference between all of then is cost.

I also have posted around for a new skimmer. On 3reef I was recomended Life Reef, Deltec, Bubble King and Octupus. http://www.3reef.com/forums/protein-skimmers/skimmer-would-you-buy-if-starting-over-44306.html

I have a friend who has a beautiful 65 gallon tank and he used and swore by AquaC. He had the Aquac Ev120. After posting on many forums I plan on either the Ev240 or the EV 400 for my future 210 gallon. There is a mod listed to take the EV240 up to par with the EV 400. Will have to reserch this more.

I am getting one, just going to check into the mod first to see if I can save a buck. Both options are around $500 clams with the pump.

so does it actually sit inside the tank or is the pump inside and the skimmer outside?
