I am remodeling my house and tore out some walls. Now I have a ton of open space and am thinking about doing a peninsula for a room divider. I am thinking a 210g or 240g. The 210 is taller but shorter(72x24x29) and the 240 is a 96x24x24. Man, hard to decide. Both would work well. Any suggestions? One have any pros over the other? I have a 150 now and I want at least a tank that is 24"s wide for this application. The 150 is only 18". I love Otty's tank and was there through the whole build. Could I use the factory drilled holes on a 210 as closed loops returns? Any input would be great. Especially from anyone with a divider type tank. Thanks!

The 240, IMO, should be easier to light for corals since it isn't as deep, and gives you more gallonage, so if you can fit it, that's what I would go with.

I would go with the 240....8' long is so cool for a tank and gives you so many more options for fish and a lot more landscape for corals.

When I build our next house I am doing something similar with a 300+ gallon.

8' Long is the way to go IMO....

240 has better overall dimensions making adding corals and performing in-tank maintenance easier. Should also keep the upgrade bug away a few weeks longer :jester:

Definitely the shallower one, for light purposes :)

    Ditto for all reasons above.
And when you do this start a build thread with pics and send me a PM so I can throw it on the homepage. :)

Will do Matt. Thanks for all the replies. I was kind of leaning towards the 8 foot tank as well. So long. Gonna look awesome.

I'm gonna be doing an 8' as well but after I move. No more space in my mom's house and I'm already driving her up a wall with 10 aquariums. About a yr ago, I went with a 5' rather than the 8' for just a couple more $$$ and now I'm regretting it. I need so much more space for corals now.
Definitely go with the 8 footer. bigger is always better in our reefer's world;)

This sounds pretty b/a. lol. I'll be following along closely. I think a peninsula tank as a room divider would be the ultimate to have. :D
