Anyone here have sharks.Whats the cheapest way to go tank wise. Is this something that i need to do a sump for or could a canister work.if you have shark tanks can you post pics? I have a nice long space available in my living room and was thinking of buying the tanks soon for this but was just wondering do i need reef ready or can this be done cheaper then that?

Don't think cheap and shark should be in the same topic. I'd your wanting to go cheap and wanting to use a canister for buy a fresh water tank. Nothing cheap in this hobby especially if its done the correct way.

+1, cheap and shark don't go together. You need big systems with big filtration, and going cheap is definitely not the way to go.

I guess first is what kind of shark do you want? You looking at a very large tank for any shark. And you want a lot of room in the tank, so probably looking at a large sump to hold your liverock and all the filters. You'll need a good skimmer for sure. Lights won't be bad as you don't need much more than just some light for the tank.

A shark tank should be 200g+ imo. Even for the smaller species. I hate when people shove a bamboo shark in a 180. I've seen a bamboo at my lfs that was over 4ft.
This will not be cheap and will have to have very good filtration as sharks are pretty dirty animals.
I love shark tanks but imo they are better left for experts cuz I would hate for one of these beautiful creatures to die under my care.
