Lighting may be a bit weak - not for the 4 fish or the star fish its not IMO
What corals do you have - I appreciate its a deep tank

keep it lighty stocked - as a tall tank has less surface area to gallon ratio - thus oxygen exchange is not brilliant

You have not yet indicated what other problems you have other than the Xenia?

but I am a recent convert to using carbon in my filter system as that helps with water clarity, making the most of the light you have

im not really having much trouble its just getting frustrated with spending money on a light they said would be enough and it end up not being enough... lso my tank over heats so i bought a fan yest see how that works... and my zoo's would open last night but when i added the new jet to circulate my water more they stopped opening... i dont know whats wrong im also sad cuz my cool spiny lobster got eaten by a shrimp :-( he was molting and i guess the shrimp or something in the sant cought him off guard and bamm no more lobster... so i dunno what to do i can get a solana for cheap and was thinking of just transfering everything over what do u think about tha.t..

In the end, the decision is up to, the Solana is not as deep as your current tank, but it is still a cube type tank. I think you will have even more problems with heat because it has significantly less volume then your current tank. Personally, I wouldnt' want to spend money on a new tank without knowing if it will solve my problems. (Although it doesn't seem that you have any real problems, you lost a lobster, we all loose live stock at some point, you have a minor heat issue with a MH, which is inherent with that type of lighting.) I think you will be down grading, not upgrading and I really don't think a smaller, less deep tank will solve your problems, or perceived problems.

    Hi cnunez

I cant answer specific question on costs , but I know 3 people on this thread who could

in addition - if someone on this site tells you that you need to get XY and Z for your tank - they do so because they believe that you and your tank will benefit from it

but if someone at the LFS tells you , that you need to spend 350 - 450 bucks on your tank? they might be doing it because they believe your reef tank will benefit , or they might be doing it because they believe their shop will benefit from your 350 -450 bucks

Guitarman seems to know a cost effective method of achieving your aims and pack leader also gave some guidance on hang on back options that would be a lot more affordable for you-
    pick their brains!!!
