If the clowns are mated I would buy them both. Wouldn't keep them separated for too long.

I agree with buying the pair if possible. Also, I would do a 5 to 10 gallon water change beforehand and maybe lower the SG a little in case your hydrometer is a little off.

i don't know how to tell the difference between a mated pair and just two clowns, but they were both young with orange heads, and looked about the same size.

ok, i have about 10 galls on freshwater left still, so i'll do a 5 gallon w.c. tomorrow, keep 5 gallons for topp offs, and get more water when i go, i should be able to afford the fish plus food and water. I was supposed to get paid today but boss hadn't passed out checks yet, i'll see if i can get my check tomorrow, and hopefully wont have to hold it, it's going to be a pretty small check anyways with not much work these past two weeks

I'm going to swoop in and disagree with everyone. Except for one thing, get your params double checked - if you've done that already, do it somewhere else once too.

Assuming params are same as yours, then this is what I think.

I've followed most of your threads. I am certain you have a tank full of uncured rock.

Reasons. No life. Your params. This much time. The story of how you acquired it. I think that much is certain.

The question, IMO, is what steps should you take in that scenario.

I would research curing LR and get an idea for how long that really takes.

IMO, you have 2 reasonable options that will not cause you a ton of heartache, lost livestock, and be an all around PITA for quite some more time. Though both are rather annoying choices.

    1. Take that rock out of your tank and cure it more appropriately. And then start over.

    2. Take that rock and nuke it. Go to the LFS, buy one piece of cured LR at a low weight for low dollars. Cycle with the one piece of new LR and add the old uncured rock back as base rock after you've nuked it (and after you restarted your cycle).

    It's a bummer opinion, but I really think that's where you're at.

    In any event, good luck.

Don't do a water change with all freshwater or your SG will drop too much. I would do about 4 to 5 gallons of saltwater and about 1 gallon of freshwater.

i'd really hate to think of having to go through the process of another cycle, and no money at the moment to buy new rock
