    Dear readers,

I've got a 30 gallon reef tank that's doing fantastic. I have a 10 gallon tank laying around that has normal cheap strip lighting, so it obviously wouldn't suffice for a reef tank or anything. It has a heater, cheap lights, and a HOB carbon filter (might invest in another form of filter but not a skimmer most likely).

I'd like to put it in my living room for people to see (as my reef is in my room), and I'd like to have one BADASS fish in it. I figured it'd also have a small amount of live rock.

Basically, the question is, what would you guys do?

I'm thinking a puffer fish (maybe valentini), or maybe a mantis shrimp... Who knows! I really haven't put any thought in to it, I figured I should get your guys' opinion on a fish that can survive in a 10 gallon tank that is just awesome in every way. I don't plan on starting this tank (if I end up starting it at all) for at least a month or two, so I'm not in any sort of rush.

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

A frogfish would be really cool, not sure how big they get so you would have to do your research on them. But they are really interesting to watch.

Frogfish look very cool, I'll check them out and research how big they get.

Anyone else have any cool ideas?

i have mine set up as a frag tank. im using T-8's (stock lighting) that i had for my 29 gal. they are 36 watts total. i just wanted to see if they would grow anything. if they dont ill upgrade. take the stock lights from you reef tank and use them on the 10 gal.

    That's an idea...

There are actually a bunch of 20-30 gallon tanks on craigslist with stock lighting that wouldn't be much more expensive to me to set up... Any of you guys have ideas for a badass creature that can live in a 20-30 gallon maybe?

    Thanks :)

i might look into doing a toxic tank... sea apples, box fish (i think they actually need a bigger tank though) and maybe an anemone or two.

or maybe a sea horse tank
