Im currently running a t5 set up its pretty new so not sure if i wanna switch or not but i have 2 sets of panoramas that are blue these are 12 leds in a set and put out 3watts. Im thinking about making a light consisting of these panoramas I wanted to do a total of 6 panoramas 3 white and 3 blue here is a cheap sketch up.. would this be enough to power corals?? or should i stick with my t5 set up ..

will be a total of 36 white leds and 36 blue leds on a 55g about 4 inch above water

so its 72 times 3 watts? If so you should be fine! But whats that gonna cost?

I'd wait for someone with experience with these to confirm that though!

How much would that cost though? I just built a led setup for my 75 gallon and it cost me $300. I would do a diy and the sell those and you are only spending $200 at that point and getting something you know will support whatever coral you would like. They are the bridgelux leds from aquastyleonline btw.

Or get these lights and spend 149 dollars total and be done?

That was my plan when I wanted to get lights for my 55g. Instead I'm doing a 10g with different motives.

It has been the cheapest place I found when I was looking to do lights... so if arentspowell is correct on the pricing if you sold yours that would make the fixture only 49 dollars.

Hmm those are only one Watt.. mine are 3.. I have a buyer for my t5 so I would spend another 100 out of pocket to finish it..

yeah those won't work for many corals!

    if you're on a budget checkout aquastyleonline.com i think!?
and check out their 48 led DIY, but i'd upgrade to meanwell drivers! About $30 more!

I just installed the Rapid LED kid on my 29 Gal Biocube.

I have 24 3Watt Cree LEDS and its SUPER BIRGHT. From what I hear it can pretty much grow anything..

the panorma pro modules are not 3 watt led's the fixture has 12 led's on it and the fixture totals 19 watts. at this point for a 55 gallon i think it would be more economical to buy a panorama fixture. but yeah you definitely could grow corals, my lfs has 2 panorama pro fixtures over a 90 gallon tank and they can grow anything.

I wanted to say watts don't mean anything any more with certain LED technologies...
Those push 10,000K light and still only draw 54 total watts.

    LEDs Count: 54
    3340 Lumens
Super energy efficient 1 watt HQ LEDs
    46x 10,000K LEDs
    8x Actinic 460nm LEDs
    Use 54 watts

That should grow corals. Specs are important.

The SMT LEDs of the Panorama Pro have no lenses but they are fully potted in resin, waterproof and most of all they seem to be more suited to producing colors other than blue and white. Although the SMT LEDs of the Panorama Pro have an even distribution with light shining more or less equally in all directions from the diode, an optional reflector from Ecoxotic can help to focus most of that light into your reef tank without creating hotspots of light intensity like lenses can. We haven’t yet tested out the common reflector for the Panorama Pro LED modules but the appearance of the light is very balanced with none of the weird color wheel effects that can happen with narrow angle LED lenses and ripples.

Simply put a wide range of corals look great under the Panorama Pro LED: SPS, LPS, Acros Montis and zoanthids all truly shine under the great color rendition of these SMT LEDs. At 19 watts each the Panorama Pro LED strips can definitely be piggybacked to get high enough PAR numbers to grow even
