They most likely will get ich during the transfer... so be ready.
After they get over that it's a great fish. Minimum tank size is 70 gallons recommended. Unless you keep a baby one and sell it as it grows. They need regular seaweed.

2 tangs in a 55 might give you some aggression especially from the yellow since he's in there and established. Hippos can grow to 1/4 of your tank's length eventually, I personally wouldn't try it.

    Tons of info out here.

I figured out which 2 tangs I wanted from the beginning, purple and hippo, and when I was read I found a set at my awesome LFS and added them on the same day. The purple isn't aggressive to the hippo at all. Could have been that the purple was housed with about 30-40 smaller clowns for a month, but every fish is different. Maybe my purple isn't aggressive. But 2 tangs in a 55 is going to be risky especially with your yellow in there already. How big is the hippo going to be if you try it? They are the biggest wimps I've ever seen so make sure there is hiding room in there as they will try to lay under a rock if stressed and they do get stressed the first few days. Hippos are luck of the draw. Look for one that is eating and has a nice belly. I only use one LFS as my supplier for fish due to the way his fish look, track record and more importantly how they are caught. His are not caught using dynamite or cyanide and are most net caught, this relieves from of the stress. I have another LFS down the road who uses ERI I believe and that company is known for dynamite and cyanide. The owner of the LFS knows that and apparently his philosophy is a tank should be restocked every 6 months :confused::angry::confused::angry::confused::-/

A 55 is too small for either tang. I wouldn't get another tang. You will need to decide what to do with your yellow tang - upgrade to a larger tank or rehome.

Hippo tangs are great fish, but they need room. They get very large. A 4-foot tank of any size is not sufficient, IMO.

Ditto, hepatus tangs can reach a foot, I have seen plenty of 10" hepatus in hobbyist's tanks swimming back and forth.
55 is too small for two tangs and in my eyes too small for one.
Wait until you get a bigger tank, otherwise you will be making a tang very unhappy!
