This cant be good!!

I just started to cycle my tank today 11 hours later I check my gravity and thanks to my wife its 1.028 nice and high (thanks honey) she said to put that much salt in so any ideas. I could use them.

 

take a few large cups of water out of the DT and replace with fresh water.

1.028 is fine for the cycle. Replace some water with RO/DI fresh water like stated above.

 

All you care about now is Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite. So long as everything else is *close* you don't care. Once the cycle completes bring the rest of the stats to correct before adding livestock.

 

1.028 is not to bad, but the higher the salinity the less the oxygen, i had my tank at this level for a good few months and it did not effect my corals and fish in any way, i slowly lowered it down to where it is today, 1.025 as i have a reef the higher end is more recommended, the lower as low as 1.020 is good for fowlr.

And I keep mine between 1.026 and 1.027. Your number isn't bad. A little on the high end....but not bad.
