I will be a senior t my high school next year. But I have no clue what classes I will take. At our school you have to to take 5 classes minimum of the 7 periods we have. Well I have all of the required classes except for senior English, and my second year of language, which was going to be Chinese.

This week was terrible, when it came to school. Due to budget cuts, 9 teachers have been cut and many classes are looking like they will not be offered next year. - That's almost all electives(except the basic art that I've already taken and family living).

I and many students in my grade have a big question mark for what's going to happen and what we will do next year.

We're having the same issues with teachers here.
I do have to say, though, you've had way more options than we had when I was in high school!

those damn budget cuts, college here is real bad. It use to be 2 year transfer to uni, now average is 4 to 5 years because its so hard to get classes you need now. Once the sign up begins, you have 10 minutes to get classes you want, if not gotta try again next semester lol

When we scheduled for classes, over a month ago, there wasn't any talk about budget cuts or even classes not being offered.

What classes were offered when you went to school? When my dad was in high school there were the electives, but then if you had your required classes, you could go home for the day if you had a job. I would like that.

That was something elese i noticed, even for thse just going into college. Students are taking college classes while in high school so they can get the credit ahead of time, but then most colleges won't accept the credits as part of their degree...

..and I thought our previous governor was bad..

But the school district has been going down-hill for the last 6 years, ever since they built the new middle school. It's really fancy and overbuilt. It's a waste of space and money(bad planning).

when theres no school it will be time to get a job son and pay your share of this economic mess! its not your elected leaders fault. they are merely puppets. its the bankers that are bailing out their buddies and burdening you and your future offspring with bad debt. welcome to the real world!

oh, btw, every state is bankrupt.

got ya. We have no funding here at all. They can't pass anything, because no one has money here. I live in a super poor county. When I was in fourth grade our school bell fell and crashed through the ceiling in my class room (no one was hurt though pretty scary for fourth graders), yeah an actual school bell. Super old school. We have no languages now, except a traveling spanish teacher, no arts, no shop, no weight lifting, a traveling gym teacher too, no track either.

That's true - it's just me. It's not just Ohio. I am aware of what is happening to our economy...

If I wasn't in school, I would be getting a job. In fact, I plan to get one this summer.

Our state pretty much made it impossible to get "HOPE" scholarship.
We must get a 3.7gpa to be ellegible and 3.5gpa to maintain it....
At least 40% of the people I know are dependent on HOPE... guess they will all be dropping out of college...

3.7 is nearly impossible to get.. And what I hate the most is that for us biology majors is pretty hard to have those grades... Biology is probably the most challenging major, and we are treated the same. I don't think that's fair.
Idk what this people are thinking!
