When I first instaled my fuge I had a big break out of cyano from such a low flow. I know that it is a bacteria and all, but I turned off my fuge light for a week and kept up on cleaning it out and water changes and Bam ! No more Cyano. Just the new surface of your cpr needs time to break in and build up the "good" bacteria. As for waht John said point a ph at your glass if possible. Good luck ! Keep us posted.

I thin kI can help answer this one- I just upgraded to MH lights a few weeks ago and the brown diatoms or whatever have been seeing a spike along with everything else.

As to what to do about it, I don't know. I've been cleaning more, feeding a little less, and upping the water change frequency.

    Interesting update...
I had cleaned everything when I installed my fuge, lights and new filter(opportunity)...just general housekeeping and such. Well, I super cleaned my skimmer......yesterday morning it started skimming again..and shazaam!...no more cloudy patches in and about the glass.....so I guess I got a little impatient....
    cant imagine that....not in this hobby...IMPATIENT, naw : )
Thanx for all the great help.

BTW "Tangster" I'm not knowing the acronym TDS, please expound.

    Thanx again.
