    i agree looks very fake....even in my 6 foot tank i think it would look stupid

    Well I am in the process right now of getting acrylic together to make my own wavebox out of a Tunze 6100 I have. When I get everything together I will try and take pics for a DIY for some people. This will be on a 7' tank so I hope it works out good.

    That's not true. The waves in the ocean don't mean anything for the reef. The waves that you see are surface variations caused mostly by wind. The currents under the water are what hits the reef and they can vary from second to second. The problem with wave generators IMO is that it's still a laminar wave flow. It only goes back and forth. It's just not random enough to really simulate what corals get in the wind. IMO the random reef crest or lagoon mode of a Vortech is the closest we can get to date.

    I am a diver. I have been underwater enough to know that the pulses of water from that wave box, at least how it is in that video is not how it looks in real life, regardless of where you are in the water.
