Only thing I'm worried about is if any water splashes up into it. I had a 24" Power Compact hood over my refugium and my Chaeto was growing crazy fast. I found out that it had a loose connection though and zapped me a couple times when I was putting water in the tank so I replaced it with this light setup.

very similar to mine--should be ok--I am going to make a 1/2 lid out of acrylic though just to totally eliminate that possibility

Looks like mine. Your bulb will eventually get coated with salt and you'll have to clean it off.

Ah, I totally forgot about that! I have a piece of acrylic that fits across my refuge. Thanks for reminding me. It is a 100 watt bulb so I hope it won't warp or melt the acrylic.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Mine is just like that too, the cover is a good idea to help prevent salt creep.
