    Am I the only one who was completely unaware that the US penny has changed its look on the "tails" side for 2010? I kinda dig it! :)

    They have changed many of the coins. I think the plan to solve our economy is to spend millions on redesigning coins...

    no kidding. actually money well spent has to be our canadian twoonie. who needs a 2 dollar coin really. they almost did a five dollar coin:-/

    Here's a slide show. Apparently there were 18 contenders. And jhawkor--messing with Lincoln on the obverse was never in the cards.

    I like quite a few of them. I like how #18 hearkens back to the wheat penny. 8, 9, and 12 are nice too.

    LOL, 100% of the plans for changes made to our coins and paper money were put in effect years before the economy tanked! These changes were included in the PRESIDENTIAL $1 COIN ACT OF 2005 which took effect on Dec. 22, 2005. I was aware of the change in the pennny but did not know it had already taken effect, I like it too.

    Odd that the wheat penny was voted favorite and ended up not being able to use it. Stupid German money.
