    Not to try to take off-topic but what happened with the pellets for you jkat? I'm currently running them so curious what your bad experience was.....

    Well hard to explain but everything just looked off all the time, I wasnt getting great growth of LPS and SPS or PE( not that you can count that).I was following the bio pellet thread here and even tried a few things he recommended like feed a lot and all that did was increase my phos then I had to add GFO which lowered my ALK..after 2 plus years of them running I never had to add more :confused:.. I would also get a lot of clear bio slime all over anything plastic in the tank.so after storm sandy my reactors were off line so I just left them off and I have had so much better growth that you can actually see the new areas by the day..colors have been great PE is great and my PHOS has stayed at a steady 0.03 (HANNA) with no GFO..im prob missing something here this is just my observation please take what I have to say with a grain of salt..its not that I had a bad experience with them I just was expecting more I guess

    Probes are fairly inexpensive...I would try that first.
