    Hi everyone.

I'm starting up a 90 gallon tank, and I need to change the way that I get water.

I have a 29 that has been running for a little over 2 years, but I've always just bought distilled water at 89c a gallon to do water changes. 10 bucks a week has never bothered me much.

However, it would cost me ridiculous amounts to keep up with a 90g + sump.

I live in florida, and I am on very very hard well water. We run it through a softener, but even so, it's definitely not good enough to go in a tank. I'm terrified of drinking it. lol.

Would this system get everything out?

    SpectraPure® Maxpure RO/DI System

How often will I end up changing cartridges if my water quality is poor? I'd like to do an 18G water change every week.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a dedicated out of sight area plumbed for water, and that is where your SpectraPure will go, then 90gpd is prolly enough as you can just leave it running for several hours to get the water you need.

In my case I have to hook it up under my kitchen sink, use it as fast as I can, and get out of dodge before collecting wife aggro.

If your case is more like mine, get the 180gpd versoin like I did. Takes me exactly 1h to fill up 5g bucket.

I have a Y adapter from my cold water on my washer and use that. I put the waste water runoff into the washer and just use that water up by doing a load of laundry, waste water can be as much as 5:1, that is alot of water to waste.

I have the 90, really like it. The issue I am running into is my pressure is too low. A booster pump is needed. I didn't factor that in when I installed mine.

    Spectrapure is the best IMO.

The Spectrapure would be a good choice, they have good quality membranes and filters.I would check their website you might find a better sale price on a unit that includes both pressure gauge and a TDS meter.

Here's the SpectraPure's sale page, great prices on the 90gpd models: Untitled Document

SpectraPure is unmatched in RO/DI units, just ask AZDesertRat on here, he usually chimes in on RO/DI threads as he's so knowledgeable. If you had any questions he's your man to ask.

The CSPDI in the sale flyer is a much better deal. For the additional $20 you get a 0.5 micron absolute rated prefilter, a 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon carbon block and a dual inline TDS meter. You also get the same 90 GPD treated and tested high rejection rate membrane and a SilicaBuster DI cartridge for an unbeatable system.

They are also a Sponsor of this forum and I like doing business with those who promote our hobby and make it easier for all of us.
