    YouTube - 1200 gallon reef aquarium with 4 Solatubes

    I have never seen lighting like that but it is very interesting

    I remember seeing that before. It's a pretty cool idea. Kinda pricey, but so is all reef lighting.

    I love the idea of solatubes on a reef tank.
    I hope this was a work-in-progress - I see a lot of duct-tape there! :)

    I wish they would have turned off the other lighting to show how much the tubes actually put into the tank.

    Oh and that's what duct tape is for ducting lol

    Great idea! I've been thinking about putting one of those in my bathroom which has no exterior walls/windows. Only con is the gaping leakprone retro'ed hole in the roof.

    This wouldn't work well for my tank lifestyle because I run my lighting schedual untill 11pm. Then its moonlight from then on. Still great use of an existing technique to save power!

    it is good for areas with lots of sun. the light output of these will vary with the intensity of sunlight. another thing to consider is the spectrum of light provided by this system. most of reef tanks have more blue spectrum while this will give light closer to 10k i assume. just my $.02
